It feels a lot like the journey we’re all on with AI. At first, it’s fog and mayhem. Then comes fascination — then some more overwhelm.
Eventually, if we stay with it, clarity begins to emerge like the sun does after a long winter.
Nejc, one of the founders of Lighthouse AI Academy, put it best: the adoption cycle is universal.
And everyone asks the same two questions:
Where am I in this cycle?
How do I make this useful — maybe even profitable?
Today, I want to walk you through both: starting with the stages of AI adoption and then the tiers of monetization that naturally follow.

We can map it out like this:

Once you hit adoption, the question shifts: how do I use this? We can explain this in a three-tiered approach:

Deliver client projects or personal work with higher quality and speed.
Teach someone
Share what you’ve learned through workshops, masterclasses, or 1:1 coaching.
Empower others while deepening your own expertise.
Build tech
Connect creative vision with technical frameworks.
Build tools, workflows, or apps that scale beyond one project at a time.
Together, the adoption cycle and monetization tiers form a map: know your stage, pick your tier, and move forward.
This is all to say, don’t be a jack of all trades and a master of none; niche down and find an area of AI to really grow into.

This week, try this exercise:
Identify which stage of adoption you’re in right now. (What the..?, Black hole, Resurface, Normalize, Adoption).
Choose one tier of monetization. (Create, Teach, Build).
Write down one small experiment you’ll do this week. (e.g., create a storyboard faster, run a mini-tutorial for a friend, sketch a workflow idea for your team).
You’ll be surprised how much clarity comes from naming where you are and choosing the next step.
